The Irish Cultural Centre is one big bustling summer camp over the next four months. The rustic 46 acre property in Canton, about 20 miles from downtown Boston, offers a variety of sports, educational classes, musical and cultural programs for individuals, children and families.
Here’s a quick sketch of what to expect this summer.

ICCNE kicks off summer in high fashion on July 12, with Celtic Woman fiddler star Máiréad Nesbitt, whose incredible energy level and mastery of her instrument has thrilled audiences around the world. Then on August 9, traditional band Réalta performs at the Center. Described as “youthful, energetic, exciting music,” the quintet’s “approach is distinctive and the results amazing.”

The next night, the amazing Byrne Brothers perform on August 10. Originally from Dublin, the Byrne family lived in Donegal briefly before immigrating to Orlando, FL.

These young lads, accompanied by their father, carry a big sound and an infectious joy for Irish music. On September 21, Celtic Angels Ireland, an ensemble of five female musicals, take the stage, joined by the Celtic Knight Dancers and the Trinity Band Ensemble of Dublin.

A huge ICC attraction each summer is the Gaelic Athletic Games (GAA) matches from June through August. Enjoy the excitement of hurling and Irish football every Sunday on the pitch. With 45+ teams in the Boston area, the atmosphere is electric with up to ten games being played in a single day.
Then on July 19, ICC’s 28th annual Golf Tournament at the Brookmeadow Country Club in Canton promises a wonderful day of golf, dinner, music, raffles and good cheer, all to raise funds for cultural programming.

Also in sports, the ICC’s 5K road race takes place on September 8. Runners, walkers and families are welcome, and there’s a free kid’s run right before the main race.
