St. Patrick’s Day Guide in Massachusetts

(Milton) -- The Boston Irish Tourism Association has released its 4th annual Irish Food & Culture Guide,
a 32 page compendium of Irish activities in Massachusetts during the St. Patrick’s Day season.

The free Guide includes details on this year’s Gaelic Gourmet Week in Boston, which features visiting chefs from Dublin, Belfast, Halifax and Orlando who are cooking alongside Boston’s best chefs the week of March 9-17, 2008. Four recipes from the visiting chefs Tony O’Neill from Belfast, Padraig Hayden from Dublin, Neil Connolly from Orlando and Sean Doucet from Halifax are included in the Guide.

Massachusetts Lt. Governor Tim Murray is profiled in this issue, and talks about his Irish roots in Worcester. Other articles feature Grammy-award-winning pianist Paul Sullivan, the changing sounds of Irish music, and a commemoration of Ireland’s great lyricist, Thomas Moore, whose book Moore’s Melodies, celebrates its 200th anniversary this year.

A Calendar section featuring dozens of Irish cultural activities throughout the Commonwealth includes the state’s eight St. Patrick Day parades, music and dance concerts, literary readings, art exhibits and other activities of the state’s Irish-American community, which accounts for over 23% of all residents. An updated version of Boston’s Irish Heritage Trail map is also available in this issue, or on line at www.IrishHeritageTrail.com.

The Irish Food & Culture Guide is available for free at visitor information centers on Boston Common, at the Prudential Center, and at information centers along the Massachusetts Turnpike. It is also available at local hotels, gift shops, pubs and restaurants, and the John F. Kennedy Library in Boston. Readers can also find this information at www.IrishMassachusetts.com.
