Seaport Hotel Celebrates St. Patrick’s Day Week with Live Irish Music

(Boston) - The Seaport Boston Hotel has booked legendary Irish fiddle player Seamus Connolly to perform on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, as Boston celebrates its title as America’s most Irish city.

Considered one of the world’s finest exponents of traditional Irish music, Connolly won Ireland’s national fiddle contest a record ten times and is artist-in-residence at Boston College. He is being joined by Laurel Martin on fiddle and Kevin McElroy, a multi-instrumentalist and singer.

The trio is playing in Tamo, a sophisticated contemporary bar in the Seaport Hotel on March 17 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 – 10:00 p.m.. There is no cover charge.

Tamo is serving boiled Irish dinner, Sheppard’s Pie, plus Hors d'oeuvres and other selections from the critically acclaimed Chef Rachel Klein. Aura Restaurant in the Seaport Hotel features a contemporary menu as well as specialty cocktails and a superb wine list.

The celebration continues through the weekend, as Boston’s popular band, Hogan’s Goat, plays an assortment of dance tunes, ballads and sea shanties on Friday, March 19 and Saturday, March 20, from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The band features Skip Toomey, Bobby Dunlap, Kathi Tayor and guest fiddler Danny McDonald.

“We’re delighted to have live Irish music at the hotel during St. Patrick’s Day week,” says Seaport general manager James Carmody. “It will be a great way for conventioneers and guests staying at our hotel – as well as local residents who love good music – to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in a stylish setting while listening to masters of Irish traditional music.”
