A CELTIC SOJOURN AT POPS
Curated by Brian O'Donovan
MAY 27 & 28, 8:00 pm
SYMPHONY HALL, BOSTON
Maestro Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops Orchestra celebrate the region's vibrant Celtic cultural heritage with an exciting presentation of music from the Celtic nations, including selections from the Pops' Grammy-nominated "The Celtic Album."
Curator Brian O'Donovan, host of A Celtic Sojourn on WGBH, takes us on a fascinating journey across the remarkable breadth of Celtic music, which helped shape America’s own musical songbook. Blending ancient traditional sounds with contemporary interpretations, A Celtic Sojourn at Pops includes performances by Galician musician extraordinaire Carlos Núñez and Irish singer Karan Casey, plus Irish step dancers, pipers and more.
Boston Symphony Hall, of course, has had its share of great Celtic performances, from legendary Irish tenor John McCormack to recent performers like Natalie MacMaster and the Chieftains. A Celtic Sojourn at Pops follows that worthy Celtic lineage.
Keith Lockhart talks about Irish and Celtic music and invites you to join A Celtic Sojourn evening.
