The late Massachusetts Senator Ted Kennedy (1932-2009), considered to be one of America’s great U.S. Senators, was a towering public figure who brought hope and inspiration to people around the world.
Now his work is being continued, thanks to the new Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate, a 68,000 square-foot facility, which is slated to open on March31, 2015 at Columbia Point in Dorchester.
The Senate Chamber at the Edward M. Kennedy Institute is designed to represent a full-scale U.S. Senate Chamber and will be a vivid expression of Senator Kennedy’s abiding commitment to public service. The immersive, experiential learning facility will cater to middle and high school groups and their teachers, college students and faculty, new senators and other government officials, as well as the general public who are passionate about democracy and the workings of government.
Located right next to the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library & Museum, the EMK Institute promises to be a wonderful new resource that will attract educators and tourists to Massachusetts.
